Así hablábamos

Así hablábamos is born out of an invitation by the National Dramatic Centre to work with young performers on the legacy of a classic Spanish female writer: We chose Carmen Martín Gaite.

An invitation that ends up being the comeback of a rock band, a conversation about creation and death, or, what comes to be the same, a conversation about life; one last dance together.

Así hablábamos reflects on death when it comes too soon, on how death resignifies life, on the tensions and forces that operate inside a group when they create, on trying to find other ways for mysticism, other ways to say goodbye and to ritualize life.

It’s a piece about the end of youth, it always happens too early, almost without us realizing, in the middle of a song.

Así hablábamos was a chance for us to work together again, and to try to invoke a way of being and talking, a way of circulating electricity, of creating and telling, going back in memory and organizing oblivion, of sealing a love that began as a mystery more than twenty years ago.

Is there a post digital way to relate to what’s human? Can a lullaby cure the world? Can a requiem make justice to a life lived? Is there anything sexier than a good conversation?

If life is that fragile, what’s left for us? A few songs. A few memories. A few words, the certainty of touch and the memory of bodies that once, and they know it well, moved together and at the same time.
